1st Year Fashion Design — Dress
Inspired by Margot Tenenbaum from Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums.
Margot’s character is reserved and quiet on the outside, yet eccentric, promiscuous, and secretly in love on the inside. This notion of a "double life" inspired me to create this asymmetrical dress, shifting between exaggerated conservatism and elements of promiscuity. The dress features an ultra-mini silhouette but is not form-fitting, with one side sleeveless and the other adorned with an exaggerated sleeve. The modifiable sleeve symbolizes how we can adapt our personalities depending on who we are with, where we are, what we are doing, or how we want to be perceived.
